Overview of position
The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs is responsible for supporting and managing projects that the Director of Auxiliary Programs assigns to them, implementing a responsive classroom-based after-school program, supervising auxiliary students during aftercare hours, supporting the auxiliary after-school enrichment program, and supporting the summer camp program.

The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs position is a non-exempt, part-time hourly, 12-month in-person position reporting to the Director of Auxiliary Programs. The start date is June 1, 2026.

Primary Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Auxiliary Program provides direct supervision of students in the aftercare program, developing and implementing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment after school. With guidance from the Director of Auxiliary Programs, this manager will develop and implement a program that is aligned with Responsive Classroom, including clear rules, community meetings, and adjusted activities based on student needs and interests. In addition, the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs will support and manage various projects assigned to them by the Director of Auxiliary Programs. These tasks may include but are not limited to data collection and management, family communication, and program development of aftercare. Other responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs include:
 Support the Director in the marketing and communication strategy of the programs.
 Implementing a responsive and supportive environment that engages students after school, which is cleared by the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
 Maintaining clear, consistent routines and expectations to promote student autonomy and engagement within the aftercare program.
 Ensuring the safety of each student by keeping an active attendance log, supervising and engaging in indoor and outdoor activities, and facilitating an afternoon snack.
 Directing aftercare staff on a day-to-day basis to ensure safe and adequate coverage during AfterCare and coordinating the pick-up and transfer of enrichment students as needed.
 Providing differentiated learning and engagement experiences for students.
 Communicating with families as needed.
Daily Tasks
On a daily basis, the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs is responsible for:
 Ensuring a safe environment for students after school includes clearly delineated boundaries for outdoor play, clear expectations for how to behave and act indoors and outdoors, and the use of Responsive Classroom practices to provide predictability for students. Communicating these expectations to other AfterCare staff members.
 Managing the attendance logs digitally of present students for both MorningCareand AfterCare.
 Creating a monthly AfterCare calendar with daily activities to engage students after school.
 Supporting in the ordering and maintenance of snacks, supplies, activities, and games within the AfterCare programming.
 Engaging with parents during pickup, ensuring they sign out, and providing any necessary behavior updates.
 Checking in with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to debrief and reflect on the day, including programs, activities, and student behaviors.
 Creating rosters and cards for Enrichments and AfterCare and ensuring they get passed out daily to their designated locations.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must love working with elementary-aged children, possess aresponsive teaching style, possess organizational skills and digital competency, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Furthermore, a successful candidate will take the initiative in leading projects that support the program and the Director of Auxiliary Programs. Preferred qualifications include experience teaching in an educational environment, and a demonstrated understanding of, or willingness to be trained in, a Responsive Classroom that would allow a strong candidate to smoothly implement the hallmarks of the PBS program.

Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time position (50% to 62.5% FTE) with an hourly pay range between $35 to $38 per hour, depending on background, experience, and tenure specifically at Phillips Brooks School. This is a 12-month position. The daily work schedule will be approximately 4-5 hours. This position is not eligible for PBS benefits.
